One of the yearly events that my kindy participates in, is potato digging. Students get to use gardening tools and dig up soil looking for potatoes. They enjoyed themselves and it was great to see them working together so well. Students helped their friends carry potatoes to the crates, calling to their friends to help pick up potatoes they had uncovered and sharing the gardening tools.
Students were then given a bag of potatoes to take home and as part of the follow up, another teacher I work closely with gave students a template of a plate to draw what their family made with the potatoes.
